Gudi Padva carries special importance in the Hindu religions as it is said that on this very day Lord Brahma created the Universe. The day is celebrated with an auspicious bath, followed by decorating the doorway and performing ritualistic worship. Gudi Padva is celebrated as Ugadi in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
